摘要:
Non-destructive assessment of elastic properties of laminate structures might be motivated by various practical needs such as the demand for reliable input data for numerical simulation of their mechanical behaviour as well as for the quality control during their manufacturing, for the evaluation of material degradation during structure operation, etc. When propagating over thin-walled laminates, elastic guided waves (GWs) carry information about their material properties, i.e., elastic moduli, density, thickness of each sublayer, and lamination scheme. The latter could serve as a basis for their evaluation with modern ultrasonic NDT and SHM systems, especially in view of the achievements in non-contact and in-situ GW excitation and sensing using laser-based or piezoelectric emitters and receivers. As input data for such approaches, GW dispersion curves obtained experimentally are typically considered. In such case, determination of laminate elastic parameters is achieved via their variation to provide the minimum of certain goal functions that specify the discrepancies between the measured and calculated GW characteristics.
The current talk attempts to give a certain insight into both theoretical and experimental aspects of how GWs could be employed for the evaluation of elastic properties of thin-walled laminates. It concentrates on the following topics:
- experimental procedures and data processing techniques for the evaluation of GW dispersion curves;
- analytically-based numerically stable approach for the calculation of GW dispersion curves and some remarks on the optimal goal function selection;
- results of case studies on isotropic and anisotropic laminates.
